A: If you plan to call Germany regularly, we would recommend the Vonage World plan. With Vonage World you’ll get unlimited1 calling to 60+ countries, including Germany. You also get unlimited1 calling across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. And right now Vonage World is just $9.99 per month for the first 3 months (then only $25.99/mo + taxes & fees w/annual plan), which is a great deal. The one caveat is that mobile calls to Germany are not included in the plan – just calls to landlines.

Q: Can Vonage dial and call cellular telephone numbers just like a regular phone? Are there any additional costs?

A: Vonage can absolutely dial and call cell phone numbers just like a regular phone would. The costs depend upon which plan you choose and where you are calling. The U.S. & Canada Unlimited plan includes unlimited1 local & long distance calling to both mobile and land line phones in the U.S. & Canada. If you’re planning to call internationally, take a look at the Vonage World and Vonage World Plus 1000 Plans. They allow unlimited1 calling to mobile phones in certain countries. You can see which countries include mobile phones by looking at the bottom of each of the product pages on this site.

A: Yes, Vonage can assign you a phone number if you don’t already have one. In fact, during the sign up process, Vonage actually lets you choose a phone number from the area codes and numbers Vonage has available. To get a new number, you just indicate which state you’d like your phone number to be associated with. Then the area codes for that state are then displayed. Once you select an area code and city, the available numbers for that combination are shown on screen. It’s very easy and intuitive, and you’ll be given several different phone numbers to choose from.

A: No, they do not. With Vonage you can call people just like you would if you were calling from a regular phone. The person you’re calling does not need to have any special equipment, or be on the Internet when you call. They will pick up their usual phone to receive your call, and won’t notice any difference between Vonage and a landline connection.

A: You actually get unlimited inbound and Vonage-to-Vonage minutes with the U.S. & Canada 300 plan. The “300″ in the name refers to how many minutes of outbound calls you can make a month.

U.S. & Canada 300 includes 300 minutes per month of outbound local and long distance home phone service across U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico (and just 5¢ for each additional minute). You can call both mobile and landlines with your minutes. And at just $11.99 per month (plus taxes & fees), you’ll probably be saving money over your current phone service.

A: Absolutely not. Vonage operates independently from your computer, so whether it is on or not doesn’t affect Vonage service. You use Vonage just like you would a regular phone service–pick up the phone and dial. The people you’re calling won’t notice a difference between Vonage and a typical landline connection.

In order for Vonage to work, you will need high speed internet like DSL or cable, a Vonage phone adapter and a touch tone phone. For more information about Vonage, please see our How Vonage Works section.
